I come from a very…let’s say ‘colorful’ Italian family and I love them dearly. The older generation, born in the 20s and 30s, have always been storytellers. Perhaps it’s because they have so many stories to tell. I’ve always wanted to capture these stories in little snippets of illustrations and I’ve begun to attempt it.

The idea for this doodle popped into my head the other day. I remember my Nani saying, “Whenever we went down into the basement, my mother would yell at us to watch out for the cheese.” I can just imagine a dark basement full of dripping balls of cheese.
